After a year away, one of Birmingham’s oldest tech conferences returns in January. WordCamp Birmingham will be a 1.5-day conference with sessions for developers, business owners, bloggers and more.
(Note: The author is a volunteer organizer and speaker for WordCamp Birmingham.)
The primary focus is WordPress, a free open source platform for content management and blogging, but those who use other systems will also find useful information at the conference. In addition, a “Genius Bar” will be available to help attendees with specific WordPress questions and problems.
Sessions listed include:
- WordPress Ecommerce: Not so Scary Anymore!;
- There’s a Plugin for That;
- Crackerjack CSS: Basics and Best Practices;
- Empowering NPOs with WordPress;
- How to Make Great Tutorial WordPress Videos;
- and more.
The full day of seminars and workshops takes place Jan. 14 at the BJCC East Meeting Halls Sheraton Birmingham, next to the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex. The half day of informal talks and networking takes place Jan. 15 at Samford University in Homewood.
Tickets are $35 for both days (which includes Jan. 14 lunch, T-shirt and after-party) or $15 for Jan. 15 only, and can be purchased online.
ALsocme members can use the code ALSOCME for a $6 discount off the 2-day ticket, making it only $29.
