The Alabama Social Media Association has partnered with the Birmingham Business Journal for the second time this year for the “Crash Course in Social Media.”
The half-day workshop features three members of ALsocme’s Leadership Team: Michelle Amaral, left, of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Chris Davis, center, of fi-Plan Partners and Jeff Vreeland, right, of Infomedia. Davis was recently part of the ALsocme Sept. 29 educational meeting, Social Media Success Panel.
Michelle will present on “People Are Following Me, Now What?” Jeff will present on “A New Type of Digital Strategy.” And Chris will present on “When Compliance Says No: Social Media Within Regulations.” Joining them will be Andrea Walker of W Social Marketing. The workshop concludes with a panel discussion.
The event runs from 8 a.m. to noon Nov. 3 at the Birmingham Museum of Art downtown. Tickets are $79, which includes breakfast, a subscription to the Birmingham Business Journal and a copy of the 2012 Book of Lists.

Our partner, the Public Relations Council of Alabama – Birmingham will hold a half-day workshop for PR professionals called Seize the Advantage.
The lineup includes Donna Francavilla, a media consultant; Ed Noles of EBSCO; Atticus Rominger, a PR/media consultant; and Michael Sznajderman of Alabama Power Company.
Morning sessions will be “Time Management Tips for the Busy PR Professional” and “Does Your Press Release Need a Makeover?” The lunch panel will be “How to Remain Marketable in a Changing Communications Climate.”
The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 2 at Energen Plaza in downtown Birmingham. Tickets are $25, $20 for members, $15 for students. To register, email Casey Lassiter by Oct. 31.
